Bereaved Dad speaks to Carl

A bereaved Dad from the North West has been telling Carl Hartley how he felt after his daughter was stillborn.

Andrew Perry and his wife Elaine lost their daughter Phillipa in 2013 –  Now Andrew from Bolton is encouraging men not to “bottle up” emotion and to talk after a baby loss.

Andrew starts his chat telling Carl of the moment they found out Phillipa had died.

Over 5, 700 babies were stillborn or died within the first four weeks of life in the UK in 2013.

On Sunday (15th October) – PART OF BABY LOSS AWARENESS WEEK – people around World will be lighting candles in memories of babies that have passed away.
This year’s Baby Loss Awareness week campaign wants:

  • All UK hospitals to be required to offer excellent bereavement care to parents.
  • A member of staff to be appointed to lead on bereavement care in every hospital department where pregnancy loss and baby death occurs.
  • Bereavement rooms to be available and accessible in all hospitals.
  • All health and social care professionals to receive the highest standard of bereavement care training.

Bolton Sands are a local support group offering emotional support, comfort and information for parents who have lost a baby.
